The 105 Ah 12V LiFePO4/LFP Deep Cycle battery is the perfect battery for systems including marine, RV, van, and off-grid!
The AMPS 105ah 12v lithium battery has more usable watts than (2) Group 27 90ah AGM batteries with 25% of the weight, a better warranty and a much longer life at a comparable cost.
Our 105 amp hour, nominal 12.8 volt battery weighs under 30 pounds. The maximum continuous discharge current is 100 amps with a peak discharge current of 200 A. The maximum charge current is 100 amps with a recommended charge current of 30 A. The low temperature charge protection ensures that the cells will not be damaged should freezing conditions occur.
Upgrade from lead-acid batteries to AMPS lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4/LFP) batteries and discover the difference that light weight, zero maintenance, long life and more available energy makes!
STORAGE CAPACITY
This battery has a storage capacity of 105 ampere hours (Ah)
AMPS batteries provide consistent power for all 105 amp hours. AMPS LiFePO4 batteries have a flat voltage curve, which means they have a steady power output as the battery discharges. The power output will not dramatically drop like similar sized Lead Acid, AGM, Gel or Carbon batteries.
BATTERY CONSTRUCTION
AMPS batteries consist of quality cells and a robust BMS (battery management system).
The high quality LiFePO4 cells are significantly safer and provide 3 to 5 times the life of other lithium chemistries such as Cobalt Oxide(LiCoO2) – LCO, Manganese Oxide (LiMn2O4) – LMO, Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2) – NMC and Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (LiNiCoAlO2) – NCA.
When a lithium battery fire is reported in the media, it is usually the lithium chemistries LCO, LMO, NMC or NCA which are the culprits.
Lithium Titanate (Li2TiO3) – LTO and Lithium Iron Phosphate – LiFePO4 aka Lithium Ferro Phosphate – LFP are the safest lithium chemistries. LFP and LTO cells are not subject to thermal runaway explosion and fire like other chemistries, with LFP being significantly less expensive than LTO. The LFP cells are the brawn of the battery providing long life, consistent energy and safety. However, high quality cells need to be matched with high quality BMS to make a good battery – many manufacturers use a low quality, cheap BMS to lower the price of their battery. AMPS will not.
The Battery Management System or BMS is the brain of the battery. A high quality and robust BMS ensures that the cells are maintained and maximizes the capacity over the life of the cells. One of the most common reasons of premature battery failure is a faulty, low quality, cheap BMS.
Many lower quality BMS will not allow batteries to be placed in series or parallel and do not offer low temperature protection.
The BMS has active protection with circuits and temperature probes that provides battery protection for increased performance and longer life.
Protections provided by the AMPS BMS include:
– cell balancing: a technique that improves battery life by maximizing the capacity of a battery pack ensuring that all of its energy is available for use
– low voltage cutoff: protects your cells from reaching a depth of discharge that may damage them and reduce their lifespan
– high voltage cutoff: protects your batteries from excessive high voltage that may damage the cells or BMS circuitry
– short circuit protection
– high temperature protection: prevents damage to electronics components, which may arise due to the excess heat
– low temperature charge cut-off: LFP cells can be permanently damaged if charged in a frozen state. AMPS LFP batteries can be safely discharged up to -20F
DISCHARGING
100 amp max continuous with up to 200 amp surge pulse. The flat discharge voltage curve provides continuous higher voltage throughout the discharge cycle compared to Lead Acid, AGM, Gel or Carbon batteries. Permanent damage and capacity loss can occur in Lead Acid, AGM, Gel or Carbon batteries if discharged below 50%. AMPS lithium battery can be discharged 100% without damage to the battery but a max discharge of 80% is recommended.
CHARGING
100 Amps max with 30 A recommended charge current. Recommended Constant Charge Voltage is 14.6 Volts. AMPS lithium batteries have a 99% charge efficiency which means every amp, every watt goes into without loss. The BMS regulates the charging with a constant voltage of 14.6V and constant amps until full. Together, this means a faster charge.
Battery charges for lead based batteries reduce voltage and amps as the battery charges to prevent overcharging. Lead acid batteries typically have coulombic (Ah) efficiencies of around 85% and energy (Wh) efficiencies of around 70% over most of the SOC range. as A Lead Acid/SLA charger will be less effective and can reduce battery life.
A LiFePO4/LFP battery charger is recommended. A LiFePO4/LFP battery charger is what is called a constant voltage / constant current charger. The charger will generate a constant 14.6 volts at the rated design amperage until the battery is full and the BMS cuts off the incoming charge.
LIFECYCLES (BATTERY LIFESPAN)
The AMPS 100 Ah 12.8V LiFePO4/LFP Deep Cycle battery has a life expectancy of 3000-5000 cycles with a 100 amp continuous current, 200 amp surge current (30 seconds). Approximately 75-80% of the battery capacity will remain after 3000 cycles in applications recharging at 0.5C or lower. Lifespans can exceed 5000 cycles under the right conditions. Lead Acid, AGM, Gel or Carbon batteries have cycle life of 300 to 1000 depending on the manufacturer with a max discharge of 50%.
VOLTAGE
The nominal voltage is 12.8V. AMPS Lithium 12V batteries can be allows up to (4) batteries in series for systems up to 48V and up to (4) batteries in parallel.
ENERGY
1280 Watts (Wh) Watt Hours = Amp Hours x Nominal Voltage
OPERATING TEMPERATURE
AMPS LFP lithium batteries can be safely discharged from -20F min to +130F max optimal operating temperatures. AMPS LFP batteries have low temperature charge cut-off protection. This will protect the battery from damage if charged below 32F.
